History

Zoom Performance was established in December of 2006 in Des Moines, Iowa, by three individuals passionate about endurance coaching: Matt Zepeda, Jenny Weber and JJ Bailey. With not much more than the belief that we could be successful, we set out on a journey to help endurance athletes reach their goals.  About forty community leaders, colleagues, and family members gathered together for the announcement of the founding of Zoom Performance.  The three coaches began offering customized coaching, threshold testing, and bike fitting services off of a porch of a house. Zoom athletes numbered fifteen that first year.

Eager to spread their passion and knowledge, the coaches began building the Zoom brand by providing top-notch service to athletes in the central Iowa area. As our reputation slowly began to grow, much to do with the experiences and results of the athletes, Zoom began to expand. Also in 2007, we started to grow as a company by bringing on our first intern, Mackenzie Madison, who went on to become a professional triathlete.

From our humble, grass-roots beginning, we started off our third year, 2008, with much excitement and readiness to take on the world. Our number of athletes doubled and their accomplishments brought more success and notoriety to the Zoom Performance family. That same year we expanded our testing services, by bringing on full metabolic testing, we moved into our first commercial location which was a small 6×5 corner of a local bike shop, and the first phase of the website was lunched. Zoom also began coaching a variety of universities triathlon club teams and started working with multiple adult triathlon clubs around the Midwest.

In 2011, we established a comprehensive testing lab and full menu of analysis with video in the YMCA Healthy Living Center which became the sixth USAT-Certified Training Center in the nation.

Through the years, we’ve expanded into the cycling and running industries by providing first-class service to single-sport endurance athletes.  From the completion of first races, national and world championship events, and Ironman finishes, the success of our athletes has always been the driving force behind taking Zoom Performance to the next level.

Zoom has grown to 9 coaches in multiple states, as we strive to continue to grow in the future!

One thing that has not and will ever change at Zoom Performance is the passion and dedication to bring the highest quality of coaching and services to endurance athletes. We are guided by our mission to take care of our athletes and be part of the journey to help them reach beyond what they thought possible.
